Tom Peters: Not the stuff of 30 second TV commercials

I'm a huge fan of Tom Peters. And by blogging about some recent trials in his life, he's shown why blogging is so much more personal and authentic than advertising ever could be.

First is this post from Peters on depression, which left my mouth agape after I read it. Here's somebody with what I consider a dream career: successful business books, including an all-time classic (In Search of Excellence) $40,000 per speaking engagement (give or take), travel all over the world, lots of friends in high places. And yet, despite his amazing career and his positive influence on so many, he battles depression.

Then Peters blogs about the recent loss of his mother. You can't package this in a 30 second TV commercial. I don't really know where "marketing" is going as the mass media model crumbles (nobody really does). But I hope it's in this direction.
